Williams Selyem Description
The Bacigalupi Zinfandel exudes the purest expression of the varietal. A fruit bowl of red, blue, and black fruit aromas abounds with hints of anise and cracked pepper. Polished and bold, the palate strikes a nice balance of acid, tannin, and fruit to offer a wine that is harmoniously balanced. - Winemaker notes
Wine Advocate: 94 Points
The 2019 Zinfandel Bacigalupi Vineyard is complex and drinkable with its detailed, spicy flavors and medium-bodied frame. It offers scents of baked blueberries and blackberries with wafts of cured meats, apricot, peppercorn and licorice. It has a pleasantly chewy frame to support its intense red and blue fruits, and gentle bursts of fresh acidity extending the spicy finish. Made entirely of Zinfandel, it comes from vines planted in the 1920s and was matured in about 20% new Taransaud barrels.
James Suckling: 93 Points
Farmed from a small block of less than two acres, this zinfandel comes from 90+-year-old-vines with naturally low yield and concentration. Aromas of blackberries, ripe plums, tomato leaf and red currants. Full-bodied with fine tannins. There is good, steady acidity here, which keeps the juicy fruit and warming spice in line and fresh throughout. Well-balanced depth and intensity.
