James Suckling: 97 Points
This reminds me of the great Napa Valley cabernet sauvignons of the 1960s. Currant and hot stone character with hints of sage. Shows tension and form, with a flavourful palate and firm texture. Drink or hold.
Vinous: 94 Points
Inky ruby. Highly perfumed scents of ripe black and blue fruits, cola, smoky herbs, and rose oil. Fleshy, expansive blackberry and bitter cherry flavors deliver a suave blend of richness and energy, picking up a hint of anise with air. Stains the palate with flavor but comes off as elegant and lithe, with no excess fat and distinct freshness. Finishes juicy and penetrating, with an array of musky spice qualities and slow-building tannins.
Decanter Magazine: 94 Points
A very cold year has given a delicate Viñedo Chadwick, very focused on acidity and red fruits. Winemaker Francisco Baettig opted to reduce the new oak for the first time (77% new oak here, instead of the usual 100%) to respect the character of the vintage, a maneuver that has given positive results. This is still very young and very vital, with notes of fresh mint and crispy red fruits. You should make some room in your cellar for this.
