Tenuta delle Terre Nere Description
The Nerello Mascalese is grown in volcanic and estremely rocky (black pumice and solid volcanic rocks) on the northern slope of Mount Etna at an altitude of 600 to 650 metres. The vines are on average 20 years old and undergo a spontaneous malolactic fermentation and ageing in French oak barriques, tonneaux and big barrels (10% new oak). They are bottled after 14 months of wood ageing and 1 month in steel.
It’s a rich ruby with purple hues wine that on the nose gives notes of intense flowery and fruity (red young fruits) bouquets with joyous and fresh flavours that are yet deep and elegant.

"This is a special bottling for the 20th anniversary of the estate. It has depth and intensity with a medium to full body, a creamy stone and basalt texture, red fruits and a mushroom and bark undertone. The linear, vivid finish goes on and on. Needs time to open. Be patient."

"Focused and intense, the 2022 Etna Rosso 20 Anniversario unfurls with a captivating bouquet of autumnal spices, dusty rose and blood orange, followed by nuances of dried cherries. It floods the palate with vibrant wild berry fruit and mineral tones, propelled by a core of zesty acidity over a wave of silken textures. A primary concentration lingers along with sweet tannins through the violet-laced finale as delicate notes of confectionery spice gently taper off. The 20 Anniversario originates from a selection of vines planted in 2006 and 2007 within the Calderara Sottana Cru. This is not to be missed. "

"Here's a special 20th anniversary bottle from Tenuta delle Terre Nere, among the first and certainly the most prolific of the Etna wine pioneers. Made with 100% Nerello Mascalese, the 2022 Etna Rosso 20 Anniversario is a mix of fruit mostly from the Contrada Calderara Sottana at 650 meters in elevation. This expression is not too far off from the estate's classic Etna Rosso, although this bottle clearly offers more in the way of oomph and spice. You feel it on the long, polished mouthfeel with dark fruit, vanilla and dried currant. "
