Grandpa Laurentino, who endured harsh imprisonment during World War II, found peace in 1971 on a small plot of land overlooking the sea near Sciacca, in Agrigento. This land, historically known as "Peri Peri" or "wanderers," was named in honor of ancient explorers and the powerful sea that shaped the land.
The Peri Peri estate, just a few kilometers from the sea, grows Nerello Mascalese, Frappato, Perricone, Inzolia, and Zibibbo grapes. The vineyards benefit from a constant sea breeze and varied, alluvial soils, creating ideal conditions for distinctive Sicilian wines.
Guided by a deep environmental commitment, the De Cerchio family practices organic viticulture, focusing on natural cycles and non-invasive methods. Their winemaking philosophy includes spontaneous fermentation, allowing wild yeasts to naturally shape the wines, resulting in complex, authentic flavors that reflect the land's true essence.
Peri Peri Description
This wine is produced from 100% organic Nero d'Avola grapes from Sicily. The grapes come from a vineyard overlooking the sea that is located on the Southwest side of Sicily, close to Sciacca. The wine is fermented in steel tanks at 28-30° C and is aged in French and Slovenian oak for 3 months. This red wine is certified organic, sustainable and vegan.
