Passopisciaro Description
Vini Franchetti was founded by talented and determined winemaker Andrea Franchetti who started his first project, Tenuta di Trinoro, in Val d’Orcia, Tuscany. Against all expectations, Andrea created a world class Super-Tuscan from scratch in a land that was perceived as unfavourable for growing grapes. Passopisciaro, his second project, was born in Mount Etna, Sicily. Focusing on making single vineyard wines, it aims to pave the way towards a cru system in the area. Andrea’s approach to winemaking is characterised by high planting, very low yields, and concentration of flavours. The wines express the characteristics of their vintage and terroir while showcasing the fullest potential of the varieties used. Today, his son Benjamin runs the estate following his dad’s vision.

So many spices and minerals here with white pepper, sandalwood, dried flowers and cloves. Ripe strawberries, too. Perfumed. Full-bodied and structured with chewy tannins and lots of muscle. Give this five or six years to soften and come into its own.
