Montepeloso Description
Gabbro embodies the essence of our noblest Cabernet Sauvignon vines, some of which are over 40 years old. It represents our ambition to produce a Cabernet Sauvignon that can hold its own with the best in the world. This wine is matured for 18 months in 80% new wood. We also use 400-litre barrels as well as barriques. The wine is subsequently stored in the bottle, usually for about nine months.

Gorgeous aromas of currants, flowers, bark and pine needles. Crushed stone. Full-bodied with crunchy and chewy tannins as well as fresh mushroom and spices. Dark fruits with graphite. Lead pencil. Fresh tannins that are vertical. 100% cabernet sauvignon. Drink after 2027 but already so enticing to taste.

The 2021 Gabbro is another hugely promising 2021 from Fabio Chiarelotto. Deep, sensual and layered, the 2021 offers up a heady mix of dark fruit intermingled with scents of tobacco, scorched earth, leather, incense and menthol. Potent and yet quite elegant, the 2021 has a ton going on. It's another super-elegant wine from Montepeloso. Superb.
