Manenti - Cerasuolo Di Vittoria 2024
Manenti Description
Tasting Notes: The Manenti Cerasuolo di Vittoria has earthy aromas at first, behind woodsy berries and bay leaf. It has an amaro-esque character, showing cinchona bark, fennel and liquorice. Terracotta jars of preserved berries. On the palate, it is soft and floral. The fruit mirrors the nose, but has a crunchy, snappy feel. Pomegranate and tart cherries. Black tea tannins and herbal qualities come through on the finish. Pair alongside Eggplant Caponata, Fish Stew, or a simple Pasta Pomodoro with Basil.
A blend of Nero d'Avola and Frappato, Cerasuolo di Vittoria is one of the most known Sicilian red wines. Granted DOCG status relatively recently - in 2005 - it remains the only DOCG in Sicily. Produced in the south west of the island, around the town of Vittoria, Cerasuolo relies on the blend of indigenous grapes for balance. Frappato lends fresh, youthful fruit with striking aromatics, Nero d'Avola lends spices, herbs and structure.
Estate History: The Wife and Husband team of Marita and Guglielmo Manenti work the 20-40 year old vines on their property in the province of Ragusa. They produce a perfect Cerasuolo, pulling every important feature from the grapes and land and bottling a true expression of terroir.
