This wine offers an enticing aroma of black cherry and cassis, complemented by subtle hints of cedar and tobacco. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with moderate tannins, delivering flavors of ripe plum, blackberry, and a touch of mocha that lead to a supple and well-rounded mid-palate. The finish is smooth and lingering, balancing fruit-forward notes with earthy undertones. For the best experience, decant the wine for 30 to 60 minutes before serving. It pairs beautifully with grilled meats, hearty stews, and aged cheeses.
Decanter Magazine: 95 Points
Dry-farmed Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes are aged 20 months in mostly neutral French oak barrels. Unfined and unfiltered. A rather dark, meaty, and savoury expression from this iconic Rutherford Estate helmed by founder and proprietor John Williams. Opaque ruby in colour shows black olive, dusty earth, and graphite. Medium-bodied and intensely perfumed on the palate, wit builds in elegance, almost defying its rather muscular aromatic profile. Fresh, balanced, quite complex, and quite cellar-worthy. Drinking Window 2024-2040.
