Tim Atkin, MW: 96 Points
Smelling of crushed stones, blackberries, forest floor and spice drawer, this is exuberant. Full in body with slightly pronounced alcohol, there is more of everything here. Most of the vines are quite old with a small bit having been replanted in 2014. They are located in Clos St-Denis and Les Chaffots.
Wine Advocate: 94-96 Points
The 2023 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru is beautiful, unwinding in the glass to reveal aromas of cherries, raspberries, violets and spices. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, it's fleshy and sensual, its pure core of fruit structured around powdery, melting tannins and lively acids, concluding with a long, saline finish.
Vinous: 93-95 Points
The 2023 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru has slightly more black fruit on the nose, intermixed with sous-bois, tobacco and crushed mineral scents. It has superb delineation but is restrained at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. This is quite an elegant and poised Clos Saint-Denis. Its silky tannins, judiciously spiced toward the finish, seem to stumble, whereas the Clos de la Roche just "glides." Drink: 2028-2050.
