2007 Vintage report - Winery
After a very hot, sunny April, which brought the leaves out three weeks earlier than average, May through to the third week in August proved relatively tricky due to cold weather and plenty of showers. July, in particular, had some of the highest rainfall seen in this month over the course of the past 30 years. Fortunately, during the last fortnight of August and the month of September, the vineyards benefitted from cool nights alternating with sunny days and moderate temperatures. These conditions, and the complete lack of rainfall during the course of those six weeks, allowed the grapes to ripen slowly, developing the polyphenols and anthocyanins that give the wines its typical colour, aromas and structure. Harvest began on 28 August. Although 2007 cannot be described as being an exceptional vintage, it has produced some lovely wines with great poise and ripeness.
