Bruna Grimaldi - Camilla Barolo DOCG 2020
Bruna Grimaldi Description
Camilla is Bruna Grimaldi's Barolo Classico and it is produced with grapes from different vineyards whose soils are similar in terms of age and composition. Barolo Camilla is elegant and beautiful. It represents the harmony and the balance of a traditional Barolo and it distinguishes for drinkability and pleasantness every vintage. The aromas are ample and floral with nuances of spices. The palate is gentle with fine tannins balanced with the typical structure, which can be appreciated in youth for those who love the energy of Barolo that reaches its best expression with a few years of bottle age.
Wine Spectator: 93 Points
Laced with cherry, raspberry and blackberry fruit, this juicy red is supple and open despite a line of dense tannins underneath. Balanced and long, marrying elegance and power.
James Suckling: 92 Points
Notes of ripe strawberries, candied cherries, dark spices, cedar and hints of chocolate. Medium-bodied, juicy and tense on the palate with crunchy tannins.
Wine Advocate: 91 Points
Made with a blend of fruit from various MGA sites (Borzone, Raviole, Roere di Santa Maria, San Lorenzo di Verduno, Bricco Ambrogio and Badarina), the Bruna Grimaldi 2020 Barolo Camilla shows a lighter appearance compared to the other wines and is a little shy overall. It lacks that same focused intensity that we see in the other wines from this producer. Instead, you get pretty red fruits, heritage rose and iris root. It is not totally linear, but it is immediate and charming right now.
