Vinous: 97 Points
The 2018 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru includes 25% whole-bunch fruit. It has a lovely blackberry and briar scented bouquet, the millerandage lending real intensity and the 70% new oak seamlessly integrated. The palate is wonderfully defined with a fine line of acidity, demonstrating more complexity and terroir expression than the Mazoyères and great sustain on the finish. Superb.
Wine Advocate: 95 Points
The real highlight of the portfolio is Mortet's spectacular 2018 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru, a beautiful wine that soars from the glass with notes of cherries, berries, spices, sweet soil tones and peonies. Medium to full-bodied, layered and exquisitely refined, its deep and textural core of fruit entirely conceals its powdery tannins. Long and sapid, this is worth a special effort to seek out.
Burghound: 94 Points
An impressively layered and softly menthol-inflected nose is comprised by notes of liqueur-like poached plum, forest floor and earth. There is a lovely sense of energy to the sleeker, rich, round and more energetic medium weight flavors that possess excellent intensity while retaining very good precision despite the solid richness and volume. While this is quite firmly structured, the density of sap should allow this to be approached after only 5 to 7 years.
