Aromatics: A complex bouquet of tangerine peel, citrus, white flowers, and strong mineral notes.
Palate: Poised and well-defined, with flavors of fresh citrus, white peach, and pineapple. Some tasters have noted a slight bitterness and phenolic texture. It shows remarkable tension and complexity, with a seductive, persistent length.
Structure: While approachable, the wine's intensity, mineral structure, and well-integrated oak suggest that it will improve with extended bottle aging.
Antoine Jobard Description
Domaine Antoine Jobard: This estate is highly regarded for producing some of the finest Meursaults. Antoine, son of François Jobard, has brought a subtly more approachable style to the wines while retaining their classic minerality and age-worthiness.
Winemaking: The wines undergo a long aging period in barrel sur lie (on the lees), and malolactic fermentation is typically slow. The 2023 Meursaults were still aging in barrel in early 2024 and were expected to be bottled in early 2025.
Drinking window
The 2023 vintage, like all of Jobard's Meursaults, is built to age gracefully. While showing immediate promise, its complex and mineral-driven character means it will benefit significantly from extended bottle aging to develop aromas of honeycomb and stone. Given the quality of the vintage and the producer's style, a drinking window of 5–15+ years is advisable, though some can be enjoyed younger.
