About El Occidental
El Occidental is an exploration of the origins of mezcal production in western Mexico. With three expressions of Mezcal from three different states, this brand champions the diversity of distillation in western Mexico. By incorporating modern technologies, such as farming of wild agaves and mechanical milling of the cooked piñas, alongside traditional techniques like spontaneous fermentation and distillation in small copper stills, the mezcaleros at each palenque are able to produce mezcals at competitive price point while maintaining the flavor and quality of artisanal distillates.
