Comparable with The Prisoner in its heyday, this Zinfandel-based blend from Caymus is the first vintage of this release. Fruit forward, with elegant spice notes, this wine is from the lesser-known Suisun Valley near Napa, also becoming known for its wine production. We received only a few cases, so this is while our supply lasts!!  2019 Caymus Suisun The Walking Fool Winery Notes: "Only a 30-minute drive southeast of Napa, Suisun Valley (which became an AVA in 1982) is still largely undiscovered. With its warm days and cool nights, this pastoral region with multi-generational family farmers reminds us of Napa Valley in the 1960s. Known for delicious stone fruits and walnuts, it is also gaining recognition for exceptional wine. A silky scarlet red with luminous highlights, this wine opens with a lean earthiness—the scent of rustic wood mixes with sweet spice, a whiff of cigar box, dusty pavement and old leather, infused with garden ripe strawberries and cherries. The palate is smooth and lively, featuring flavors of juicy raspberry, the subtle tartness of cranberry, and notes of espresso and smoked meat. Underlying acidity makes this wine mouthwatering, while its tannins lend a gritty yet softly fine texture. On the finish: a trace of vibrant cranberry, luxurious cocoa and an extra kick of spice."
