Amancaya is a joint project between Domaines Barons de Rothschild and Nicolas Catena, combining generations of family know-how to create a wine made for current drinking and everyday value. The bold fruit of the Mendoza Malbec is tempered by the elegance of Cabernet Sauvignon, and 12 months of aging in French Oak (20% new). The overall style is a balance between the fruit-forward Argentinian and more restrained Bordeaux styles. The resulting wine is delicious now after a short decant, or lay it down for 3-5 years. Best of all, we've put it on sale for only $13.89!
2012 Amancaya Malbec Cabernet Sauvignon Gran Reserva Mendoza "A delicate blend of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon that shows currants and citrus character. Medium to full body, with ultra-fine tannins and a crisp and clean finish. Delicious fruit, acid balance. Drink or Hold." --James Suckling, 91 Points Winemaker's Tasting Notes: "The nose presents aromas of red and black fruit, with red currants and plums, and a little bit of mint and cedar. The bouquet fills out with notes of vanilla, spices and mocha from the French oak. On the palate, the texture is pleasant and well balanced. The tannins are refined and gentle. There is a pleasant sensation of softness in the mouth." Regular Price: $20 LFW Sale: $13.89! |
